New Baden Senior Citizens

The Senior Citizens of New Baden hold a monthly meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the O. W. Billhartz Civic Center.  A Card Party is scheduled the last Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.

The Trenton Nutrition Center (TNC) serves a hot, delicious meal daily, Monday through Friday, at 11:30 a.m. to all seniors that are past their 60th birthday.  This meal is intended for all walk-in customers from Sugar Creek and Lookingglass Townships.  No senior will be turned away.  We do ask for a $3.00 donation at the door.

Why should I donate for my meal?

 

TNC offers blood pressure screening on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

 

TNC offers podiatry assistance with toenail clipping about every 6 weeks.  TNC will advertise the exact date about a week in advance.

 

 

Reduced-Fee License Plates

 

Senior citizens and persons with disabilities who qualify for the Illinois Dept. on Aging's Circuit Breaker Program are eligible for reduced-fee license plates through the Secretary of State's office.

Every January, the Secretary of State's Office mails license plate discount cards to everyone approved for a Circuit Breaker grant the previous year.  Complete the discount card and return it with your vehicle registration form at renewal time.  Eligible individuals receive a $54 discount on renewal.

Senior EyeCare Program

 

The Senior EyeCare Program ensures access to medical eyecare.  The program raises awareness about age-related eye disease, including cataracts, provides free eye care educational materials and facilitates access to eye care -- at no charge.  Receive a complete eye exam and glasses at no charge.  The program is sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging of Southwestern Illinois, Lens Crafters, the University of Missouri St. Louis School of Optometry and your local Lions Clubs.

The Annual Open Enrollment Period for 2008

The Aging Network can help Older Adults and Persons with Disabilities Save Money on Prescription Drugs

 

If you have questions or know of anyone who needs help with their Prescription Drug Benefits call ANSWERS ON AGING at 800-326-3221.  The Open Enrollment Period for 2008 is now through December 31, 2007.  During October, you should have received your copy of "Medicare & You 2008" in the mail.  Keep this document and use it for reference.  If you are enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, you will receive written notice of any changes to your current plan.  You can compare 2008 plans on the Internet at www.medicare.gov or call the Area Agency on Aging of Southwestern Illinois at (800) 326-3221 and talk to an "Answers on Aging Specialist." 

 

Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage

 

Anyone who has Medicare can get Medicare Prescription Drug coverage.  Extra help is available for some people with limited income and resources.  It will pay for all or most of the monthly premiums and annual deductibles and lower the prescription co-payments related to their plan.  The extra help could be worth up to $3,600.00 per year.  To qualify for the extra help they must have: Income limited to $15,600.00 for an individual or $21,000.00 for a married couple living together.
