Wheel Tax and Dog License

Residents who reside within the New Baden corporate limits are required to pay a vehicle tax for each vehicle they own/use and a license fee for each dog they own according to the Revised Code of Ordinances.  These fees are due on or before March 15^th of each year.

Each vehicle (cars, pickups, and vans) shall be assessed $5.00, motor-homes and larger vehicles over 1-ton shall be $10.00, motorcycles shall be $2.00. 

The tax on every dog shall be: male or spayed female $3.00, and un-spayed female $7.00.

Wheel tax and Dog license due January 1 of each year and must be paid on or before March 15. 

Every owner or operator of a motor vehicle who receives such license shall receive at the time of payment of the fee, a Village license sticker.  These stickers shall be numbered serially and bear the number and year for which the license is issued.  Each Village sticker shall be attached to the front windshield, in a conspicuous place so as to be readily readable.

Military personnel that reside within the New Baden corporate limits are exempt, ONLY if they are domiciled in another state.  An affidavit of domicile shall be furnished to the Village Clerk as evidence of domicile.  This is obtained at the Legal Office at Scott Air Force Base.

After March 15^th, each vehicle under one ton shall be assessed $10.00,  one ton and over shall be assessed $20.00, motor scooters and motorcycles shall be $4.00.  Dog licenses after March 15^th shall $6.00 for each male dog or spayed female dog and $10.00 for each un-spayed female dog.
